Green spaces

Green Spaces are undeveloped public land which are protected from development because of their importance to the community. Bridge has a number of designated green spaces:

  • Recreation ground
  • Allotments
  • Riverside Close
  • Western Avenue (multiple)
  • Church Meadows
  • Brickfields

Recreation ground

Bridge benefits from a large, centrally located recreation ground. There is open space, a children’s play area, adult gym equipment, tennis courts, and a football pitch.

Parking can be found along Patrixbourne road.

The recreation ground is managed by the Parish Council.

Dogs are not permitted on the recreation ground.

This includes dogs on leashes. The only exception is on the public footpath that travels from the Pavilion and the adjacent field.

The safety and cleanliness of the recreation ground, as a space for people to enjoy, is the primary concern.

Using footpaths and bridleways, there are a some recommended walks to explore the local countryside.

  • Bridge to Bishopsbourne and back again
  • Bridge to Renville and back again
  • Farm walk

Elham Valley Way

Elham Valley Way

The Elham Valley Way (shown with pink rhombus shapes) runs through Bridge, and leads from Canterbury all the way down to the coastal town of Hythe. The total distance is 22.5 mi (36.21 km), taking walkers through enchanting countryside and the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
